The Italian Ministry of Health warns people not to travel if they have Covid - 19 symptoms

Arrivals from Belgium, France, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Spain and the UK must either present a negative test carried out in the past 72 hours, or get swabbed on arrival, either at the border or locally. 

Arrivals from the 10 non-EU countries allowed must not take public transport to their destination, and must self-isolate for 14 days. 

 Although numbers have been rising since September and spiking heavily in October, it remains one of the less affected European countries. 

Some regions, which are seeing particularly high spikes, have introduced additional curfews. 

 According to data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control and PC Agency's Paul Charles, Italy is currently at 34.8. 


Rome



Entry to Italy from the UK requires a negative COVID-19 test result when you arrive in Italy from the UK. (gov.uk)

Alternatively, you can take a free COVID-19 test at Rome airport on arrival. (gov.uk) 
Some airports in Italy do not have COVID-19 testing facilities. (gov.uk) 

Fiumicino Airport and Ciampino in Rome, Malpensa and Linate in Milan, and Marco Polo in Venice, as well as the ports of Civitavecchia and Livorno, and Santa Maria Novella train station in Florence, have set up rapid testing facilities for passengers. (telegraph.co.uk) 

The 30-minute tests will be administered free-of-charge to passengers. 
Those who test positive for coronavirus will not be allowed to travel or If you test positive within Italy, you will be required to quarantine. 

What happens if I test positive on arrival in Italy? 
Anyone who tests positive for Covid-19 in Italy is required to undergo a 14-day period of home isolation, under the supervision of the regional ASL (health authority).

In addition to completing a self-declaration, must also:
a) present a statement that they have undergone a molecular or antigenic test carried out by means of a swab and a negative result within 72 hours before entering the national territory;alternatively 

b) undergo a molecular or antigenic test; to be swabbed upon arrival at the airport, port, or border location (where possible) or within 48 hours of entering the national territory at the reference local health unit." (Ministero della Salute) 

 All travelers need to complete a form used for testing and tracing purposes. 

The United Kingdom 
Italy requires more travelers get tested for COVID-19 before visiting 

The NHS Testing Service should not be used. 

Boots will be offering a 12-minute turnaround on a Covid-19 nasal swab test at a cost of £120  and will be available in selected stores.

The rapid test will not be authorised as a pre-flight travel test as the results will be processed in-store.

A separate 48-hour test will be eligible as a pre-flight service. It also costs £120.

London Heathrow
Passengers flying from London Heathrow to Hong Kong will be able to have a rapid Covid-19 test at the airport before checking in, after the UK’s first pre-departure facility opened on Tuesday - 20 October, 2020. 
Tests will be carried out by Collinson n facilities within Heathrow terminals 2 and 5. 
Passengers must book their test online with Collinson before going. 

What do I need to do before returning to the UK? 
You must complete the passenger locator form online before you arrive in the UK from any country. 

This includes if you’re travelling from a country or territory where you do not have to self-isolate when you arrive in the UK. 

You must complete this form even if you’ve already completed a different form to enter another country. 
If you do not complete the form before you arrive in the UK, it’s likely to take you longer to enter the UK. 
You cannot submit the form until 48 hours before you’re due to arrive in the UK. 
This is a free service. You do not need to pay another website or business to provide your contact details for you. 
You must complete the form online. 
Do not print out the form and fill it in by hand. 
The government will use the information you give to contact you if you or someone you’ve travelled with develops coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms. 
If you need to self-isolate for the first 14 days after you arrive in the UK, the government will also use the information to check that you’re self-isolating. 

The United States 
The Department of State has issued a Level 3 Travel Advisory for Italy recommending that travelers avoid all nonessential travel (including tourism) to Italy. 
 In addition, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has issued a Level 3 Health Notice for Italy due to COVID-19 concerns and similarly recommends that travelers defer all nonessential travel to Italy 

If you travel, take steps to protect yourself and others from COVID-19: 
  • Avoid close contact by staying at least 6 feet (about 2 arms' length) away from anyone who is not from your household. 
  • Remember social distancing. 
  • Wear a mask to keep your nose and mouth covered when in public settings. 
  • Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer. 
  • Avoid contact with anyone who is sick. 
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. 
  • Do not travel if you are sick. 
  • Check your travel insurance - is it valid for Covid - 19 or coronavirus?
